First Method: Remove Background using Selection Tool and Refine Edge

It is not that much tricky to remove background of an image!Here, we are going to take you through the full process of remove background from any image. It will help you to overcome this challenge. In this tutorial, we will use the Refine Edge tool in Photoshop to remove background from an image.

[Note: The ‘Refine Edge’ command used in this tutorial was first introduced in CS5. Older versions of Photoshop will not work with this tutorial. ]

Changing the Background:First of all you have to open image that you wish to change or remove the background. Once you have chosen your image you will want to remove or change the background from as well as opened it in your Photoshop. Follow this tutorial to win your challenge. Here we come with easy tricks to change the background.

Here we are going to remove background of an image.

Step 1:Open your image. File>Open.. Here we have selected the image of a cute animal..cuty doggy!

Step 2: Select Lasso Tool or Quick Selection tool to select the area that you want to keep.You don’t need to be too accurate with things like hair and fur, because you can refine the edge later.When you’re happy with your selection, right click and then click ‘Select inverse’.Click Refine Edge… option.You will see the following options

Step 3 : You have to adjust Edges to give your image adjustments with the edges. We used this settings in the picture. When you use different image this setting will be different according to image requirement.

Selection Adjustment

• Radius: 1.6px;
• Smooth: 13
• Feather: 0.9px
• Contrast: 25%
• Shift Edge: 0%
• Output to New Layer

Now Click OK. You will be able to remove BACKGROUND from your image!!!

You have to follow all the steps of removing background as before you change the background, first you have to remove background from your image and I hop it’s Simple!If you now want to add your photograph to a new background, you can do so by opening up the background image in Photoshop and simply dragging the cut out image onto the background.

After removing follow the steps

Step 4: Open an image where you want to place your background-less image. File>Open…

Step 5:Select Move tool and just drag the doggy or your background-less image to the new image!

You will get the following

Second Method: Remove Background with Background Eraser Tool

If you have a plan to erase the background of your image, then you can do it simply by using the background eraser tool! It is super easy to erase the background with this tool.

Follow the steps to erase the background.

Step 1: Open the image. File>Open…We are going to erase the background.

Step 2: Choose Background Eraser Tool

Step 3: You have to increase the size of the eraser. Just click on the right of the resize option and set the size, hardness as well as spacing.

Try the following settings

You also have to set the tool just like the following image

Step 4: Just hold the left button of your mouse and start erasing the background randomly. Here you go!

Step 5:Go to the Limit panel, it is on the top of your panel. You have to change the limit and change Contiguous to Discontinuous.

Limit: Contiguous to Discontinuous

Do the same(step4) and start to erase on the background again and see the magic!

Step 6:Select the Color picker tool from the top panel and you can select a specific color to erase from the background

You will get effect similar like this

So you have removed the background of your image! You can save this as .png format so that you will get a transparent background!

Changing Background :It is the time to change the color of your sky! We have just removed the sky and make the background transparent. Now we will see how you can change the background.

Step 7:Select the gradient tool and choose the style that you want to apply
